Youth Opportunities We believe that our youth are important and special, and we strive to include them in the life of the congregation as often as possible. There are also a lot of events and gatherings just for their age groups, to help them build relationships, learn life skills, and strengthen their faith! Because we care about our young people, we hold an intentional prayer time for them every Tuesday, at noon, in the sanctuary. All are welcome and encouraged to join in this prayer time. On this page you will find just a few of the opportunities for our young people, and you can always contact our Youth Director to find out more! Early each year, our youth enjoy traveling to the Acquire the Fire weekend event, full of worship, music, fun, and fellowship. In March, they attend the Victoria Conference Youth Gathering, which offers worship, workshops, conversation on a specific theme, and fun interaction with other local youth and leaders. Each summer there are many opportunities for Camping experiences for junior and senior high youth. Some of the possibilities include Camp Chrysalis, Ebert Ranch, Lutherhill, or Beach Camp. Additonally, our youth participate in the week-long ELCA National Youth Gathering, which is held every third summer with Lutheran youth from all over the country. Our youth also help to coordinate and serve with such projects as Angel Tree, and an annual Valentine’s Dinner for the congregation, as well as helping to lead our weekly worship by acolyting, assisting, reading, and with musical gifts. If you’re looking for fun, our young people also enjoy planned events together, such as lock-ins, bowling, and movie nights. As for Christian education, we offer weekly Confirmation classes for junior high youth, and Sunday school every week for both junior and senior high youth.
